Almost two years ago, I experienced the death of a loved one, and I never experienced the death of someone that close to me before. When that person was very sick, and I knew deep down she would not make it, I remembered telling my self « You are going to stay with her until the end, and you are going to do everything you can to make her feel at ease « , it was a commitment that I made to myself. So I did, I stayed until the very end, never closed my eyes or walked away when it was hard, even though it felt sometimes that I was watching death right in the eyes, and that I felt powerless. This tragedy thought many things but one the most important thing is that we don’t have time. We think we do, but we don’t. I thought I would have more time with her, I thought we would do this and that and go there, I thought she would be able to take care of my future kids, but none of that happened. Once I experienced with my own eyes, how life is short, I decided that I would not waste it being afraid and not motivated to do the things I want to do in life, I owed it her that at least.
